Introduction

Greetings aspirants! I am Rajat Sambyal, a recently-recruited JKPS (Jammu and Kashmir Police Service) Officer. Having successfully cleared JKPSC CSE 2022, I am on the brink of undergoing training. Today, I am thrilled to share my exhilarating journey and the culmination of my hard work in the form of a comprehensive book, "Anthropology Exemplified." 

Join me as I reflect on my UPSC CSE 2021 experience, the strategies that propelled me to success, and the unique features of my book that I believe will be a guiding light for future civil service aspirants.

A Remarkable Turnaround

The pursuit of success in UPSC CSE is often laden with challenges, setbacks, and a continuous quest for improvement. In my sixth and final attempt in 2021, I witnessed a significant leap in my overall score in Anthropology optional – a remarkable increase of 53 marks compared to 2020. Securing one of the highest marks in Anthropology, an overall score of 307 out of 500, was an attestation to the effectiveness of the strategies and insights I had gathered throughout my journey.

A Dream Realized

Motivated by this achievement, I felt compelled to share my experiences, strategies, and insights with aspiring candidates. This led to the creation of "Anthropology Exemplified," a book that encapsulates the spirit of my journey. The title reflects my commitment to providing not just theoretical knowledge but practical examples, case studies, and a question-and-answer format that mirrors the demands of the UPSC Anthropology optional syllabus.

A Deep Dive into the Book

"Anthropology Exemplified" is divided into two parts, mirroring the structure of the UPSC Anthropology optional papers. Part one, dedicated to Paper 1, spans 272 pages and includes 210+ questions, while Part two, focusing on Paper 2, consists of 202 pages with 130+ questions. 

Extensive Case Studies

The distinguishing feature of my book lies in the extensive use of case studies – over 200 examples scattered throughout both parts, with a special emphasis on the tribal section, encompassing 100+ case studies.

Reader-Friendly

What sets "Anthropology Exemplified" apart from other available resources is its commitment to reader-friendliness. Clear explanations, multiple points, and definitions are provided, empowering aspirants to choose the information that suits their learning preferences. Visual aids in the form of flow charts, tables, diagrams, and maps, totaling 150+ illustrations, aim to ease the process of revision and enhance the effectiveness of answers within the time constraints of the examination.

Structured Approach and Additional Chapters

Adhering to UPSC's syllabus for Anthropology, the chapters in the book are named and numbered accordingly. Unique to my book is the inclusion of a chapter titled "Unconventional UPSC Previous Year Questions" at the end of Paper 1, covering non-traditional questions from the past 5-6 years. 

Likewise, Paper 2 concludes with a chapter named "Ethnographic Profile of Tribes in Jammu and Kashmir UT and Ladakh UT," offering in-depth insights into specific tribes in these regions.

"Anthropology Exemplified" caters not only to beginners but also to advanced-stage aspirants. For those starting their journey, it serves as a comprehensive guide covering the entire syllabus.
