Guided by a suggestion, Raj Kamal shifted his focus and started preparing for the PMT (Pre-Medical Test). Success smiled on him this time, and he not only cleared the exam but also earned another scholarship. He went on to study veterinary medicine at one of Chennai’s prestigious colleges. It was here that a new avenue opened up for him. He learned that one could serve in the army as a veterinarian.

Discovering a New Passion

During his conversations with seniors, he came across the term ‘UPSC’ and was intrigued by the idea of preparing for it. He realized that the UPSC syllabus resonated with what he had already studied, sparking a newfound interest in him.

The American Dream and Beyond

Raj Kamal’s academic excellence led him to an opportunity that many only dream of—an exchange program in the United States. He found himself at Michigan State University, where he embraced the learning process, made new friends, and experienced a different culture. Despite enjoying his time in the USA and receiving an attractive job offer, his heart was set on serving his country. With a sense of patriotism and a desire to make a difference, he decided to return to India.

The UPSC Journey

Back home, Raj Kamal embarked on his UPSC preparation journey with zeal. He was determined to crack the exam and serve his country in the best way possible. Remarkably, he managed to keep his expenses during this period to a modest Rs 40,232, showcasing his disciplined and focused approach.
