TikTok voices for social change with Josh Talks and MASH Project Foundation

Josh Talks and MASH Project Foundation collaborated with the world’s leading short video platform TikTok to build awareness on social issues and mobilize TikTok creators to drive social change via the platform.

It was launched under the #TikTokForGood initiative, which recognizes TikTok’s contribution and commitment to India’s creative economy as a content platform for social good. This, in turn, emphasized how the power of storytelling through a platform like TikTok can lead to direct engagement with an online community of supporters as well as create connections with potential donors and fundraising mechanisms.

The event marked the beginning of a nation-wide NGO empowering series of workshops. And was attended by 80 national and international NGOs from sectors such as education, WASH, youth and women empowerment, wildlife conservation among others. Who were educated about efficiently utilizing the platform to disseminate information on critical issues, garner support and seek collaborations for a cause.

It took place at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, and was attended by prominent NGOs like – WWF India, Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, Save The Children, WaterAid, Magic Bus, Plan India and many more.

Nitin Saluja, Director, Public Policy, TikTok India opened the event by explaining why a platform like TikTok is important to drive social impact through its community of users. Along with pointing out how it can nudge the social consciousness of its users into becoming responsible individuals of society.

This was followed by an inspiring talk from Awal Madaan (@awalcreations) who shared his experience on the platform and how he is leveraging TikTok to create a positive impact in more than 4 million lives.

Post which Priyadarshini Ray gave a hands-on training workshop, where she introduced all the NGOs to various features and safety guidelines of the platform. Thus bringing the event to a close with an insightful query session whereby the NGO representatives clarified their doubts and appreciated the educative session.
